Manor House - Historic Facts

The manor house of Klein Kordshagen was built in 1878 with bricks. It
was constructed in the style of the Gründerzeit (economic phase in
the 19th century in Germany and Austria before the great stock market
crash of 1873). As many manors in this area it was never under the
seignory of the king of prussia.

The tenants during the time from 1878 to 1945 (Schwing, Matthies, Schaper and Wartenberg) were allowed to hold the title "Königliche Domänenpächter" (royal seignory tenant) and lived with their families in the house.

After 1945 the house was used as a refugee shelter, a library, a community hall, a doctor´s office and as quarters for deprived families. During these years of heavy use unfortunately no one cared about the facade, structural condition and the conservation of the building.

In 2003 family Lüth was able to acquire the manor and is dedicated to the reconstruction of the house and the rebuilding of architectural abberations. A short time ago they started offering three holiday flats in the ground floor.

Both the manor house as well as the park with many old lime trees are declared as listed building/area.

Klein Kordshagen was first mentioned in records in 1268. It was one of the most important and influential manors in the region and for many centuries it was part of the monastery Neuendorf of the order of Cistercians. During the 19th century Klein Kordshagen was one of the most important stations of the former railroad line Stralsund-Barth.

Today the village is more of a sleepy place on the periphery of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. Klein Kordshagen combines being close to a city with a lot of beautiful nature.
